Zac Roman Named Assistant Basketball Coach

May 29, 2007

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University basketball coach Scott Edgar has announced the hiring of Zac Roman as an assistant basketball coach for the Redhawks.

Roman has spent the last five seasons at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kan.

Zac Roman spent the final three months of the 2006-07 season as the interim head coach at Johnson County.

"I am very happy to be able to add Zac to our basketball staff," Edgar said. "We had over 150 applicants for the position but Zac stood out because of his maturity, character and knowledge. He is the type of coach that can help us build a championship program at Southeast."

Roman will assume many of the duties formerly filled by Toby Lane who resigned recently to accept an assistant coaching position at Miami of Florida.

A 1996 graduate of Wichita State, Roman had served as an assistant coach at Johnson County CC since 2003. He served as interim head coach over the final three months of last season and has served as director of the summer camps.

Roman also had high school experience as head freshman coach and camp director at Kapaun Mt. Carmel High School in Wichita, Kan.

Southeast still has one vacancy in the men's basketball coaching staff and Edgar said he hopes to have the remaining position filled by sometime next week.
