Redhawks Play Three-Game OVC Weekend Series at Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. - Southeast plays a three-game weekend series against the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky at Turkey Hughes Field. Saturday the teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 12-noon central time. First pitch of Sunday's series finale is also slated for 12-noon. Southeast (27-18, 12-6) heads into the three-game set in first place in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). The Redhawks are 9-9 on the road thus far in 2007. Eastern Kentucky (19-22-1, 8-8) is 13-10 on the season at home.
LAST TIME OUT: The Redhawks took two of three games at Capaha Field last weekend against Eastern Illinois. The teams split Saturday's doubleheader with Southeast rebounding on Sunday to win 10-4. Senior Omar Padilla (Point Reyes Station, Calif./Santa Rosa CC) hit a grand slam and added a two-run double to lead the offensive attack. Junior Ivan Nails (Horn Lake, Miss./Southwest Tennessee CC) pitched five and two-thirds innings of three-hit relief to earn the victory.
AGAINST THE OVC: Southeast is 12-6 in OVC play this spring, tied with Jacksonville State for the best record in the league. The Redhawks hold the tiebreaker over the Gamecocks after taking two of three head-to-head in early April.
SHAH NAMED TO WALLACE AWARD WATCH LIST: Senior pitcher/outfielder Asif Shah (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wabash Valley CC) was named to the revised Brooks Wallace Award Watch List on Wednesday. Currently there are 112 players on the watch list in all of Division I.
