Former Southeast G/F Calvert White to Play for Virgin Islands at the FIBA Americas Championship

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Former Southeast Missouri State University guard/forward Calvert White is among 12 members who will play for the Virgin Islands National Team at the FIBA Americas Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico from Aug. 26-Sept. 6.
Virgin Islands is in Group A along with Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. The Virgin Islands team has played in four of the five tourneys held this decade (2001, 2003, 2005, 2009).
Reggie Freeman (G, Texas), Jason Edwin (F, Kent State), Kitwana Rhymer (F, Massachusetts), Cuthbert Victor (F, Murray State), Kevin Sheppard (G, Jacksonville), David Cooper (F, James Madison), Phil Jones (C, Charlotte), Greg Washington (C, Hofstra), Walter Hodge (G, Florida), Aaron Brown (G, St. Benedicts Prep) and Rasheem Richards (G, York College of Nebraska) make up the rest of the Virgin Islands roster.
White played at Southeast from 1996-98. He was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer Team after leading the team in steals (58), and ranking second in scoring (13.0 ppg), rebounding (5.0 ppg), 3-point field goals made (22) and assists (69) during the 1996-97 season.
White averaged 11.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 2.9 assists per game in 57 career starts at Southeast.
