June 9, 2010

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Prepvolleyball.com put out their annual top collegiate recruiting classes for the upcoming volleyball season and Southeast Missouri State was named as one of the best in the nation.

The Redhawks were one of 55 schools recognized as "Honorable Mention" after the initial top-30 schools and 20 others were named "Highest Honorable Mention".

The Redhawks incoming class was rated among high-major schools Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, Purdue, South Carolina, Texas A&M, UNLV and Wake Forest. Jacksonville State joined the Redhawks as the only two teams from the Ohio Valley Conference to make the prestigious list.

The incoming class boosts the first pair of high school All-Americans in the history of the program.

Outside hitter Andrea Baylin (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) was named to two separate All-American teams. She was honorable mention selection on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/Under Armour Girls High School All-American Team and named to the prepvolleyball.com All-American Team.

Fellow outside hitter Colleen Yarber (Freeburg, Ill./Freeburg) was also named to the prepvolleyball.com All-American Team. She was placed on the Highest Honorable Mention Team, ranking her among the nation's top 250 prep players in the country.

Setter Julie Shives (Grove City, Ohio/Davidson), middle Emily Coon (Imperial Mo./Seckman) and outside hitter Berkley Idel (Wildwood Mo./Lafayette) completes sixth-year head coach Renata Heard's recruiting class.

The five signees will join the nine returning members of the team on Aug. 6 for the beginning of preseason camp.
