BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - The Ohio Valley Conference announced that freshman Ashton Aubuchon was chosen as this week's OVC Goalkeeper of the Week. This marks the third time this season that the Redhawks have been awarded a weekly honor by the league.
Aubuchon went 1-1 last week in the Redhawks (4-4) two non-conference road games against Western Kentucky and Arkansas State respectively. Her goals against average in those two games was 0.50 as she faced 33 shots, turning away 32 of them. She finished the week with 13 saves and a .929 save percentage.
Against the Hilltoppers, she faced 16 shots including seven on goal in a 1-0 loss. Her six saves tied her season-high at the time.
In the Redhawks 1-0 win over the Red Wolves, Aubuchon set a new career-high with seven saves enroute to her second shutout of the season. She faced 17 shots including 14 in the second half after the Redhawks grabbed the lead.
For the season, she is 4-3 with a 1.43 goals against average.
Fellow freshman Stephanie Palmer (9/7) and senior Ashley Runion (8/31) were each selected as the OVC's Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season.
The Redhawks continue their four-game road trip this weekend as they open up OVC play at Jacksonville State on Friday, Sept. 24 at 6:00 p.m.
