Gymnastics Hits the Road for Pair of MIC Dual Meets

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - After a two meet homestand, the Southeast Missouri State women's gymnastics team hits the road for a pair of Midwest Independent Conference dual meets. First up is a trip to Shreveport, La. to face Centenary College on Friday, Feb. 4 at 7:00 p.m. followed with a bus trip to Denton, Texas to take on Texas Woman's University on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The Redhawks (0-4, 0-1 MIC) rank 37th in the latest national rankings with an average of 192.600. That average moved up thanks to a season-high 194.075 scored against No. 24 Denver last Friday. The team recorded season-highs on the vault (48.750) and beam (48.475) against the Pioneers.
The beam line-up ranks fifth in the South Central region and 25th nationally with an average of 48.331. Sophomore Taylor Westrick leads the beam team with a 9.763, ranking 11th in the region.
The floor and bar teams lead the MIC thanks to a pair of seniors. Christina Sundgren leads the MIC and ranks sixth regionally with an average of 9.781 on bars. She has claimed three bar titles this season.
Gaddie is the conference's top vaulter with an average of 9.781 and also leads the league with a 9.806 average on the floor. She has claimed three-straight vault titles and has captured two floor titles this season.
