Uchtman Breaks Indoor Record in Shot Put to Lead the Redhawks at the Saluki Open

Saluki Open-Day Two Results

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southeast Missouri track and field team returned to Carbondale Saturday for the second day of the SIU Saluki Open. The day was highlighted by a new school record in the shot put by senior Josh Uchtman.
“We competed well and it was great to have everyone back and competing,” said head coach Eric Crumpecker.
Uchtman, a senior from Steeleville, Ill. earned a first-place finish in the shot put breaking his own indoor school record (60'-8”) in the process with a toss of 60'-9.25”.
Junior Craig Robinson finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 53'-0.75”. freshman Kevin Farley finished right behind Robinson throwing 52'-3.25”.
Freshman Reggie Miller, Jr. finished second in the triple jump at 48'-04.75”, a new personal record for the Kansas City, Mo. native.
Fellow freshman Jacob Kent earned a third-place finish in the high jump at 6'-6”, a personal best. Miller, Jr. followed Kent in fourth place at 6'-6”.
In the running events on the men's side freshman Curt Wood and senior Max Weiser led the way for Southeast with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meter run. Wood, set a personal best in the event as the tandem would finish at 1:59.08.
On the women's side freshman Kim Moye earned a second-place finish in the triple jump at 36'-9.5”. Fellow freshman Jessica Brown finished in fifth at 34'-11.75.
In the running events Senior Jessica Bollinger finished third in the mile run with a time of 5:15.24, a personal best in the event.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Magan Edwards, Angelica Larrier, Tianna Borner and Jerika Lewis finished third with a time of 3:59.32.
On day one of the Saluki Open, junior Jill Schunrbusch won the pole Vault with a height of 11'-11.75”, a height that ranks second all-time at Southeast.
Other notable finishes from day one were, Blake Carter, who placed second in the long jump at 24'-1.5”, tying a career-best that was set last season at the Saluki Open. Freshman Reggie Miller, Jr. placed fourth at 23'-2.5”, a season-best.
In the men's weight throw junior Craig Robinson earned a third-place finish with a toss of 60'-10.5”. Senior Josh Uchtman finished fifth at 59'-10.25”.
Southeast returns to action at the Illini Classic next weekend in Champaign, Ill.
