EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - For the second meet in a row, the Southeast Missouri State men's and women's cross country teams each placed first Friday evening at the SIUE Cross Country Challenge. The Redhawks combined for seven top-ten finishes.
The cross country teams earned two first place finishes two weeks ago in Saint Louis at the Washington University Early Bird.
"It is very exciting to have two more first place finishes after winning on both sides at the Early Bird two weeks ago," said head cross country coach Ryan Lane. "We are running much faster now than we were this time last year and we are in a great position going into Chicago in two weeks."
Nate Shipley placed second overall with a time of 25:29. Brent Collins, who was the top place finisher for the Redhawks two weeks ago, placed sixth, finishing the race in 25:47. Craig Munie (25:49) and Tyler Mullen (25:52) each placed in the top ten with respective finishes of eighth and tenth. Ryan Anderson, Shane Brown, and Colton Strotheide finished 18th, 19th, and 20th with times of 26:26, 26:36, and 26:40, respectively.
