BRENTWOOD, Tenn. –
A pair of Southeast Missouri soccer players were recognized for last weekend's performance by the Ohio Valley Conference on Tuesday.
Freshman defender Christina Rohde
and senior goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon
were named OVC Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively.
Rohde, who is earning the award for the second time this season, played every second on the field during the Redhawks' 2-0 weekend against OVC foes Belmont and Tennessee Tech. She helped anchor a Southeast defense that yielded only one goal and 15 total shots against. The St. Louis, Mo., native also chipped in offensively by picking up the secondary assist on the game-winning overtime goal in last Friday's 2-1 win over Belmont. She logged all 90 minutes on the pitch in Sunday's tight 1-0 win over Tennessee Tech, when Southeast allowed only five shot attempts.
Aubuchon crept even closer to the school record in career saves. The Florissant, Mo., native stopped six of the seven shots that came her way over the weekend and also picked up a rare goalkeeper assist in last Friday's win over Belmont. Sunday's two-save performance was Aubuchon's 20th-career solo shutout, which ranks second all-time at Southeast. She has 227-career saves, one shy of Lindsay Pickering's school record.
This is the first time Aubuchon has won the goalkeeper of the week award since the 2011 season, when she won it three times.
The Redhawks host SIU Edwardsville at Houck Stadium on Friday night. Opening kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
