Redhawks Showcase Strong Performances at Halloween Intrasquad

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri's gymnastics team had a strong showing during its Halloween intrasquad meet Thursday in front of a nice crowd at Parker Gymnasium.

Southeast split its roster in two teams with a special Halloween theme, Superheroes vs. Villains. The Villains won by a close margin.

"We are exactly where we need to be at this time of year," said Southeast head coach Kristi Ewasko. "We had some freshmen step up today and that was a postive since we are going to rely on them heavily. Our seniors did a great job of rallying the fresmen and getting them to realize what competing at this level is about."

The teams combined to hit 25 of their 42 routines at an advanced stage.

"We have lots of room for improvement and to have two more months to do that is exciting," added Ewasko. "We are further along at this time than we have ever been. It shows that the changes we have made in training are paying off. It was also nice to see the crowd and we appreciate the support."

Southeast opens its season at home against Kent State on Jan. 12.
