Redhawks Add Infielder Leah Duffe
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.
- Southeast Missouri expanded its roster for the upcoming 2014 season with the addition of shortstop Leah Duffe
, head coach Lana Richmond announced Tuesday.
A native of Moscow, Iowa, Duffe hit .384 with 79 runs scored, 10 home runs, 44 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 59 games as a freshman at Kirkwood Community College last season. Kirkwood went 55-3 overall and a perfect 28-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, while advancing to the fifth round of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Tournament.
"Leah adds another layer of stability to our middle infield," said Richmond. "She brings a winning attitude and was part of a 50-game winning streak under Coach Joe Yegge at Kirkwood. I am thrilled to get her caliber to strengthen our infield for this spring season."
Duffe was a First-Team All-Conference and All-State pick as both a junior and senior at Wilton High School. She won her team's Golden Glove Award in all of her prep seasons and was named Most Valuable Player her senior year.
Duffe will join the Redhawks in January and has three years of eligibility. She was teammates with fellow infielder Haylee Krack
, who transferred to Southeast from Kirkwood last May.
