Setting the Table
The Southeast Missouri baseball team opens the 2013 season on Friday night against New Orleans in New Orleans, La. It is the first meeting between the two schools. First pitch for Friday's season opener is slated for 6:30. Saturday's contest is set for 2:00 p.m. with series final set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Southeast Season Openers
The Redhawks are 26-27 in 53 season openers. Dallas Baptist defeated the Redhawks 7-6 in last season's opener. DBU used a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull away from the Redhawks.Ryan Barnes 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a run scored in his first game as a Redhawk.

Preseason OVC Polls
The Southeast Missouri Baseball team was picked eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Austin Peay, the OVC Co-Regular season and tournament champions in back-to-back seasons were picked to win the league with 14 first place votes. Southeast Missouri junior left fielder Derek Gibson was named Preseason All-OVC after earning First-Team All-OVC last season by the coaches and sports information directors in the OVC.

First Contest
The Redhawks will have a new face at the helm this season as Interim head coach Steve Bieser takes over for former head coach Mark Hogan, who retired in late July. Bieser is in his third season with the Redhawks after serving as pitching coach the previous two seasons.

Utility Man
Andy Lennington started 45 games last season; starts were in five separate positions including first base, second base, shortstop, center field and right field. Majority of Lennington's starts were at first and right field (16 and 17 respectively).

Going Streaking
Junior Derek Gibson recorded a 29-game hitting streak from from March 13 to April 29. He finsihed last season with a six game hitting streak.

Strong Finish
Senior Ryan Kendall made 18 appearances in 2013. The lefthander finished the season allowing only two hits in his final nine appearances. Senior pitcher Michael Patman did not allow an earned run in his last six outings spanning 9.1 innings.
