Setting the Table
The Southeast Missouri baseball team opens their 2013 Ohio Valley Conference slate this weekend as they head to Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. It is the first meeting between the two schools as members of the OVC. Friday's action begins at 4 p.m. with Saturday and Sunday's contests starting at 1 p.m. at E.S. Rose Park.

Redhawks Against Belmont
The Redhawks are 5-3 all-time against the Bruins as the two teams will meet for the first time as members of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Utility Man
Sophomore Jason Blum started games in right field and left field this week at UALR. He has now played five positions this season including two appearances on the mound.

Getting Offensive
The Redhawks lead the OVC and rank 35 nationally in runs scored with 86 on the season. Southeast also leads the OVC in batting average at .282, which ranks 87 in NCAA Division I.

Out of the 'Pen
Southeast's bullpen has been impressive so far this season as they have recorded an ERA of 2.27 so far this season in 63.2 innings of work. The Redhawks have only allowed 16 earned runs out of the bullpen this season. Southeast ranks second in the OVC in team ERA at 3.80. Southeast has allowed opposing hitters a batting average of .260.

Preseason OVC Polls
The Southeast Missouri Baseball team was picked eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. Austin Peay, the OVC Co-Regular season and tournament champions in back-to-back seasons were picked to win the league with 14 first place votes. Southeast Missouri junior left fielder Derek Gibson was named Preseason All-OVC after earning First-Team All-OVC last season by the coaches and sports information directors in the OVC.
