Outdoor Record 17 Redhawks Qualify for NCAA West Region Prelims

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track & Field Committee has announced the participants in the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships competition.
 
Southeast Missouri will send 17 athletes to the NCAA West Region Prelims on May 29-31 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The 17 NCAA regional qualifiers are the most in a season in Southeast's outdoor track and field history. The last time the Redhawks had more than 10 NCAA outdoor regional qualifiers was 2011 (11).

The qualifiers out of next week's East and West region Preliminary championships competitions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon.
 
Qualifying to the final championships competition is accomplished through the performance in the preliminary championships competition at each site for events contested at those competitions.
 
Twelve competitors from each individual event and 12 teams from each relay event advance from each preliminary championships competition site to the final championships competition.
