Tucker Named MIC Gymnast of the Week
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Alyssa Tucker
was voted Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week, it was announced Wednesday. Tucker recorded a career-best 39.025 all-around score as she finished fourth overall in Sunday's tri-meet at No. 23 Iowa State that also included No. 8 Oregon State.
"Alyssa really took hold of an opportunity this past weekend to fine-tune some trouble spots," head coach Kristi Ewasko
said. "She has trained really hard to correct all the little details and we saw her hard work pay off. She is that go-to person for this team in the gym and it really showed at Iowa State as to why she's a staple in our lineups as an all-around competitor. Keep watch for her to continue to grow and improve this season as her training is getting stronger and stronger."
On Sunday, Tucker scored 9.825 on balance beam, 9.775 on uneven bars and floor exercise and 9.650 on vault. She placed sixth on bars, tied for sixth on floor and finished seventh on beam.
