Southeast Missouri junior libero Jade Mortimer
was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Mortimer recorded 59 digs (4.92 dps) to lead Southeast to a 2-1 record at the Gardner-Webb Tournament (Sept. 4-5). She opened the tournament with 15 digs against tournament host Gardner-Webb Friday. Mortimer followed with 23 digs against USC Upstate and added 21 more vs. The Citadel.
Mortimer has 104 digs this season, averaging 4.73 per set. She is currently second in the OVC in digs per set. The OVC Defensive Player of the Week honor is the first of Mortimer's career.
The Redhawks return to action when they face UT Arlington at the Arkansas Tournament in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
