Southeast Missouri women's basketball (5-7) will open up conference play against the defending OVC champion Belmont Bruins (10-3).

 
Scouting Belmont
The Bruins are 10-3 on the season, suffering losses to Oklahoma, Stanford and Wright State. They were picked to finish first in the OVC preseason poll, with 22 first place votes. The preseason co-players of the year were also both Belmont players in Darby Maggard and Sally McCabe. Although not voted one of the co-players of the year, their top performer is Kylee Smith 19.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Redhawks Take Down Evansville 74-69
Southeast Missouri used a 10-0 run in the fourth plus a near triple double performance from Adrianna Murphy to defeat the Evansville Purple Aces by nine points. Murphy finished with a career high 26 points to go along with 10 assists, nine rebounds and five steals.
 
 
A Look at What's Ahead
The Redhawks will battle Tennessee State at home on Dec. 30 at home before they go on the road Murray State and Austin Peay the following week.
