Men Place Third, Women Take Sixth at OVC Indoor Championships

Charleston, Ill. – Southeast Missouri track and field concluded competition today at the OVC Indoor Championships at Eastern Illinois.
The men's team finished third with a final score of 118. The women's team placed sixth overall ending with 56 team points. Eastern Kentucky took home first for the men scoring 136 while Tennessee Tech finished first for the women ending with 137.
Cal Urycki finished the heptathlon to begin the day and placed second overall with a final score of 4808. He also competed in the men's 60 meter hurdles and placed seventh with a time of 8.5 seconds.
In the women's shot put, Anya Tonga placed fourth, reaching 45'4.50" (18.83m).
Logan Blomquist took home the third event win for the Redhawks, placing first in the men's shot put, reaching 58'2" (17.73m).
In the men's one mile run, Marc Maton took third with a time of 4:13.87. He also placed eighth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:36.21.
Angie Sumner placed 11th in the women's one mile, coming in at 5:09.46.
In the men's 400 meter dash, John McDonald took home second place with a time of 49.22 seconds. He also placed third in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 22.07 seconds.
Jezel Martin finished third in the women's 400 meter dash with a time of 57.43 seconds.
In the men's 60 meter dash, Haile Wilson took second with a time of 6.86 seconds.
James Kosbar took home third place in the men's 800 meter run, finishing in 1:57.14.
In the women's 800 meter run, Carli Knott took seventh with a time of 2:18.83.
Aliyah Sangster placed seventh for the Redhawks in the women's 200 meter dash, finishing in 25.77 seconds.
In the women's 3000 meter run, Rachel Hutchcraft took 17th  with a time of 10:34.44.
A relay team of Colin Schwab, Bryce Pease, Andre Bluiett and John McDonald placed second in the men's 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 3:23.99.
In the women's 4 x 400 meter relay a team of Aliyah SangsterGeorgia TomlinsonKendall Long and Jezel Martin took third place with a time of 3:53.50.
This concludes the indoor season for SEMO track and field. Outdoor season will begin next weekend at South Alabama.
