Kaziska Captures Beam and All-Around Titles at Iowa Dual Friday

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Anna Kaziska captured the beam and all-around titles in her second career collegiate meet as Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics totaled 180.925 Friday night in a dual meet with Iowa at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The host Hawkeyes took the dual with a team score of 194.700.
 
Kaziska utilized back-to-back scores of 9.800 or higher in the final two rotations to claim the all-around title with 38.825. In the third rotation, the freshman from Louisville, Kentucky, danced to a floor routine of 9.825 good for second at the dual. Kaziska concluded the meet with a mark of 9.850 on beam.
 
Kaziska now has four scores of 9.700 or higher in 2019 including a 9.750 on vault (third at the meet) in the second rotation Friday. 
 
Southeast started the dual with a 41.075 on bars. Kaziska led the team with a 9.400.
 
In the second rotation, the Redhawks posted a 45.950 on vault. Adams chipped in a 9.650 for second on the team after Kaziska. Mackenzie Slee added a 9.600. Maya Tran had a 9.350 on the discipline. 
 
SEMO then had a team score of 46.425 on floor. Slee was second on the team with a 9.675 and Fischer added a 9.375. Kenna Skepnek tallied a 9.050 on floor. 
 
The Redhawks closed the dual on beam with a 47.475. Michael Sanders hit her first score of 9.700 or higher in 2019 with a 9.700 in the second position in the beam rotation. Slee was third on SEMO with a 9.450 and Fischer posted a 9.300.

Slee and Sanders also both competed in the all-around competition. Slee finished with a score of 35.775 and Sanders totaled 33.025.
 
Southeast next returns to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, for their home opener against San Jose State on Friday, Jan. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Houck Field House. The 2019 Redhawks will be signing autographs at the conclusion of their season-opening meet.
